I was skeptical but this place totally lived up to the hype! Don't be fooled by the modest exterior, the inside is comfy and clean. The owner was as pleasant and welcoming as the reviews mentioned. And the food blew me away from the first bite. I'd like to keep it a secret, but I also wish for their continued success.

I thought I'd prefer the potato bolani over the squash bolani, but both ended up being delicious! I appreciate how crispy the exterior was. The qabuli palow was another crowd favorite, although I personally found the carrot and raisin to be too sweet and preferred the rice without the extra toppings. The lamb shank with the yogurt and cilantro chutney makes for a delicious bite! The other kebab meats such as chicken and beef were fine, and the chapli was interesting to try. We had a bit of a miscommunication when placing the order, but the staff addressed it promptly.

Every time I/we pop in this wonderfully warm and welcoming spot, the food smacks us with powerful flavors of fresh produce and ingredients and healthy meats. The menu is not huge which is great and another example of the ability to perfect those things that are on the menu. Tonight was the chicken/chapli combo kebab; very highly recommend! Try it once and you will likely return... prove me wrong...!?! YUM!

Small cozy place. Good service and authentic taste. Really good manto I have had in a while, chicken kabob was well-marinated. Kabuli pulao was decent.

My friend and I were blown away by the hospitality and food here! Both of us never tried afghan food, but we definitely plan on trying more dishes next time. The chicken kabob was extremely juicy and tender, and the rice was seasoned nicely with a touch of cumin. I loved the raisins and carrots on the rice for an added texture and sweetness. The lamb was also extremely tender and not gamey at all. I usually don't like lamb but this one was certainly delicious. The appetizer, 5pc mantoo, was also so good and I loved the yogurt with it. The man was very friendly and gave us samples of other menu items, like the squash Polani and a rose fragrant dessert, to try. He also sent us home each with a huge loaf of afghan bread that they make in house. Thank you for an incredible and filling meal! Next time I'm in Fremont, I know I'll be hitting this spot again.

Found this restaurant on Yelp and saw the great reviews. We told our friends to meet us here and so we made reservations for a party for four for 4:45 pm. Got there early and found parking easily. The outside looks really small and like a hole in the wall but because the reviews were so outstanding, we still wanted to try it. We loved it! We ordered the potatoes/squash bolani, and the trio combo. Everything was delicious!! The owner gave us a small cup of the rose water pudding for dessert. It was a very quaint place to eat I highly recommend the food and plan to go there again! Very nice and friendly family owned business!

Food/Taste/Flavor: 5/5 - ordered Mantoo (5 piece), Chapli Kabob, Chicken Kabob, and Beef Kabob. While they were out of Bakhlava, we were able to try some Firini. The mantoo was interesting as it's a dumpling covered with a yogu sauce and ground beef seasoning. So while it has a savory aspect, it's also extremely creamy. Both the chicken and beef kabob were tender and well marinated. We enjoyed the seasoning and spices in the chapli as well. The rice were flavored well and loved the salads. The firini is an Afghan milk pudding that is absolutely creamy with cardamom and rose water. While we enjoyed it, it's definitely a particular flavor. Service: 5/5 - very friendly and attentive. Mom and pop store vibe with how welcoming they were. Ambiance: 5/5 - while it's a small store with limited seating, it felt very cozy like walking into an Aunty's house and asked to sit and eat. Value for price: 5/5 - delicious food, friendly service, and cozy atmosphere. Highly recommended place and we can completely understand why!

Yup This is the what you think of when someone says, "I found this hole in the wall with awesome ...." No one speaks English, but it's busy and the Sabzi was perfect. Fresh ingredients and home cooking Afghan style!

Let me preface this review by saying this is long, overdue. I have gone here a couple times in the last 2 years. lol As someone who just loves food of any culture, and my exposure to Afghan food while in the Military, I was very excited to know there are so many Afghan food options in Fremont! I feel like Fremont should already be known as the Afghan Food capital :D This restaurant is small and kinda hidden. I just saw it in Yelp and wanted to try it because I just couldn't be bothered to wait at De Afghanan Cuisine. The restaurant is cute, they only have a couple tables so I usually take my food to go. I am greeted usually by the husband who owns the establishment. He is very nice and usually is excited to see new people at his restaurant. The couple times I went he gave me free Afghan bread and a small dessert. I have a feeling this is ran by their family. I usually either order the trio kabob or just chicken and chopli. Looks like the prices have gone up since a couple years ago which is expected so it doesn't bother me. We wait a little and our food is done. How is the food? Honestly, very very good. If you are already familiar with Afghan food and spices, it is very flavorful and in my opinion, authentic. You get soo much food in the kabob meals with the mountain of flavored rice, salad, afghan bread, and what looks like chick pea soup. A complete and filling meal. This is why I think the prices are so worth it for the food they give you. I have tried some other items like the borani, qabuli, and farini, and all were delicious. When I get Afghan bread I usually cut it into servings and freeze it and toast it when I want some and eat it with some salted butter. Bliss. I hope you guys give this place a shot, Keep them busy and open!

Blown away by the kabob here! The chicken kabob with carrots and rice is mighty amazing and a super good combination. The portion is one of the largest for takeout that I've had. Ordered for myself on DoorDash and picked up on my home from work. Food was packed and ready on time. Didn't come with napkins or utensils, so make sure you ask for those. Nonetheless, I'm glad I ordered kabob from here. The chicken is excellent in taste and quality. The brown rice is so delicious. Salad is fresh and crisp the way it should be. Mantu was restaurant style. Garlic level perfect. We enjoyed the food from here very much and will definitely order more often. I would really recommend their kabob plates. Try them!!
